Where to stay

⚠ Book without delay Many hotels nearby are already fully booked for the 14th of July long weekend. If you haven't booked yet, don't wait.
Our recommendation — Hyères Plage

The best value to stay close to the venues.

More affordable — Hyères centre

For cheaper options, look around Hyères centre, around €100 per night.

Close to the castle — La Londe-les-Maures

To be just minutes from the castle, look at hotels in La Londe-les-Maures.

Getting to Bormes

By car

The medieval village has only one main car park, parking Saint-François (paid) on two levels (P1 and P2), about 5 minutes' walk from the church. Parking du Pin (free) is a 15-minute walk away — and quite a climb! It's a fallback if Saint-François is full.

In summer, most of the medieval village is closed to cars outside the car parks — don't try to park in the streets.

The 14th of July long weekend Bormes will be packed with tourists. Spots may run out. We strongly recommend arriving with plenty of time (ideally before 1:30 PM) or organising carpooling between guests.

If you have free seats in your car, please share them in the guests' WhatsApp group. Every shared seat is one less car in the village.

Good to know: a free carpool area (10 spaces) is located at the village entrance, at the Verrerie roundabout (avenue Lou Mistraou, direction Saint-Tropez D98).

If you come in an electric vehicle: 9 charging stations are spread across the town (locations on the town hall website).

By public transport
From Toulon-Hyères airport (TLN)

A variant of the 878 line (« 878 par aéroport ») goes directly from the airport to Bormes in ~28 min. Warning: very few departures during the day — check the ZOU website first.
Easier: a direct taxi (~22 min) from the rank at the Arrivals Hall exit.

From Hyères train station

Take bus 67 (Réseau Mistral) from the stop right outside the station (every ~10 min in July-August) to the stop « Hyères Centre — Joffre » (~10 min ride). From there, take line 878 directly to Bormes « Le Pin / Les Fontêtes » (~50 min). Or: a direct taxi from the station (~30 min).
Good to know: bus 67 also serves Tour Fondue (the ferry port for Porquerolles) — handy if you extend the weekend.

From Toulon train station

The bus station is right next to the train station. Take line 878 to Bormes « Le Pin / Les Fontêtes » in about 1 hour. Check the schedule on the ZOU website (link below).

To reach the medieval village The « Les Pins Fontêtes » stop is at the bottom of the village. Two options:
•  30 min walk uphill (steep, hot)
•  Connection with the 886 shuttle which goes directly to the medieval village (€2.10)

ZOU schedules may change after 3 July 2026 (summer reinforcement) — check on zou.maregionsud.fr a few days before your trip.

For soft-mobility enthusiasts

The « Train des Pignes » greenway (former Toulon → Saint-Raphaël railway) crosses Bormes over 10.5 km. The climb up to the medieval village is doable on an e-bike but steep — and the roads aren't bike lanes.

⚠ Watch out for the heat It will be very hot in July. Bring plenty of water, 48h deodorant, a towel, leave early and remember the steep climb up to the church.

Good to know: the tourist office is certified « Accueil vélo » (repair kit and bike parking nearby).

. . .

If you arrive early for the ceremony in Bormes

Place Gambetta, in the heart of the medieval village, is a lovely spot for a shaded lunch before the ceremony. Our favourite spots:

Book early — peak tourist season.

. . .

Getting to the castle after the church

Good news: the buses that brought you to Bormes also stop near the castle! The closest stop is « La Decelle » (~5 min walk from the entrance), served by:

Otherwise: taxi/private hire or carpooling (~15 min by car). For the return at the end of the night, taxi/private hire is mandatory (no more buses).

Good news: at the castle, parking is very easy — no stress.

Our tip: take the route de Léoube rather than the fast road. It's more bucolic — and it's the route we'll take ourselves — follow the bride and groom!

Getting back after the party

Remember to book your taxi or private hire in advance for the return, especially if you plan to stay late.

⚠ Don't drive if you've been drinking The castle is right next to a gendarmerie which runs frequent spot-checks (often invisible on Waze). The road is also known for serious accidents — really avoid it.
Plan B — sleep on site You can't pitch a tent, but you're welcome to sleep in your car in the car park. The next morning, come swim at the beach with us (almost as good as a shower) and join us for brunch!
. . .

For the South in July

Drape yourself in your finest evening gown, three-piece suit, OM football jersey… in short, come as you wish! But beware of the heat: bring a hat, fan and sunglasses.

And in your bag:

🚭 Smokers: please only smoke in the designated areas and never drop cigarette butts on the ground — wildfire risk is very high in the Var region in summer.

For the more adventurous: also pack a swimsuit. The beach is a 30-minute walk from the castle — perfect for catching sunrise after the all-nighter.

. . .

For babies and young children

Good news for young parents: we've arranged two paediatric nurse babysitters on site until late at night. A nursery room will be set up in a quiet, air-conditioned room of the castle. Your children will be in the best hands, and you can enjoy the party with peace of mind.

Remember to pack travel cots and anything else useful for your children's comfort.

. . .

If you're staying longer

Sunday — we're waiting for you

Brunch at the castle, 11 AM to 4 PM

For those still around, we're extending the party gently with a brunch at the castle, with a pool and pétanque in the shade of the pines. You're very welcome — just let us know if you're coming so we can plan the right number of guests.

Monday — our getaway

We're heading to Porquerolles

Notre-Dame Beach in Porquerolles

On Monday, we're heading to the beach in Porquerolles and visiting the Carmignac Foundation (contemporary art in a Provençal estate).

This isn't an organised excursion — it's our personal plan.
If you're still around and tempted, come join us! Everyone arranges their own ferry, tickets and transport, and we'll spend the day together.
A few useful links

For Porquerolles, drop us a line by email or join the dedicated WhatsApp group to coordinate; for brunch, the little form above is all we need.
